The days are coming says the lord when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh (Jeremiah 9:25).
For even as other nations (Egypt, Edom, Ammon, and Moab) were not circumcised the whole house of Isreal is also uncircumcised in heart.
God has always been particular about services rendered with a sincere heart (that they may worship in truth and spirit. John 4:24). That explains why He took away condemnation and slavery under the law of sins, so we can have total freedom to really serve him. For our first call was for service and nothing else (Leviticus 25:55).
God's desire for us to be free can be spoken of in:
1. His instruction to Moses for the consecration of the first-borns of both man and livestocks of the people of Israel after their leaving Egypt. This was done to erase the mark of slavery on the Israelites, such that it was never recorded again that they were once slaves (Exodus 13:1-16).
2. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross to signify true salvation from the devil, his wiles, and his power over humanity.
This is the spiritual circumcision He perfected through the death of Jesus christ, and the giving of the Holy spirit so man can be free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-3; 8:5-8).
For you have not received a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship and by Him we cry Abba father (Romans 8:15).
Often times we have had ourselves limited to being governed by laws and protocols. Whereas God wants us to live as free-born guided by the instructions of the Holy spirit (Romans 9:30-33).
God wants us to trust in Him completely and forget about our own will, or the expectations of the world. For it is only through this means that we can truly serve Him (Leviticus 25:55).
According to Matthew 7:5, we have led the life of hypocrisy for so long. Hence, a charge for us to return to sincerity and reality in John 4:24.
And as He had promised, He will reward us for our obedience (Leviticus 26:3-13).
Prayer
Please lord help my obedience be fulfilled in you so I can find favour in your sight. Exodus 33:13
